True Blood Maxine Fortenberry Biography
Since her first screen credit in 1986, she has appeared in over 50 film and TV productions, including appearing in a recurring role as Maxine Fortenberry, the mother of Hoyt Fortenberry on the television series True Blood.
Maxine Fortenberry is a local woman of Bon Temps. She is a very prejudiced and hateful person, in contrast to her only son, Hoyt, who has a tolerant nature.
She was married to an unnamed man (who was, as she claimed, a closeted homosexual) with whom she had her son. When Hoyt was ten years old, his father committed suicide by shooting himself. Maxine, knowing she would not get any money if the insurance company discovered Mr. Fortenberry's suicide, made it look like a burglar shot him. After this, she was very bitter and suppressed her son; constantly reminding him of his shortcomings
